Mexicali Neighborhood Clean-up Campaign

Once a quarter since 2010, employees at Skyworks’ Mexicali facility have volunteered their time to help beautify the surrounding neighborhood. Employees help prune trees, paint perimeter fences, and clean up street corners and areas near the facility.

American Cancer Society Relay for Life Walks

Employees from Skyworks’ Woburn, MA and Adamstown, MD locations participated in and raised $6,250 (including a company contribution) for two American Cancer Society Relay for Life walks. Skyworks’ employees walked to raise funds for cancer research and education, and to support co-workers, family, friends, and others touched by cancer.

Cedar Rapids Employees Participated in 5th Annual “Run the Flood” Event

Employees and family members at Skyworks’ Cedar Rapids, IA design center participated in the 5th Annual “Run the Flood” event sponsored by Skyworks. The seven mile and 5K race event commemorates the historic 2008 floods, helps raise funds for flood recovery, and increases awareness around rebuilding efforts.

Newbury Park Employees Participate in America Recycles Day

In conjunction with America Recycles Day, Skyworks' Newbury Park, CA facility held an e-waste collection event for employees. Over 2,000 pounds of e-waste was collected, thus ensuring the material was safely recycled and diverted from landfills. Proceeds from the event were donated to the Cancer Hope Foundation in Camarillo, CA, a non-profit organization that offers a cost-free camp retreat for adult cancer patients/survivors, their children and friends.

Skyworks Sponsors Society of Materials Event

Skyworks sponsored the 8th Annual American Society of Materials’ “Experience New England” event held at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts. The one-day program, free for high school students, featured nine hands-on materials learning stations designed to spark and encourage the study of engineering in teens. More than 70 high school students from three states participated.

Design Center Supports Job Shadow Program

Two area high school students interested in mechanical engineering had the opportunity to shadow engineers from Skyworks’ Cedar Rapids Design Center as part of a Workplace Learning Connection program. Students learned about the typical day of an engineer and spent time in the lab.
